Born in 1920, David Henry Templeton received his bachelor's degree from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1941, and an M.A . from the Universtiy of Texas in 1943. After being drafted into the army in 1943 Templeton was assigned to the Manhattan Project in Chicago, where he met Glenn Seaborg and other scientists from the University of California, Berkeley.
